This is an opportunity to join a successful startup and work alongside experts in payments & fintech as their CFO. You will join the company’s executive leadership team and report directly to the CEO. As the CFO, you will play an integral role in executing the company’s growth plans and will have complete oversight of the company’s financial management function. In addition to the responsibilities traditionally held by a CFO, you will organize and utilize company data to help make sound strategic decisions related to financial models, pricing structure, and client contracts. This position is suited for someone who relishes going beyond the day-to-day requirements of the job, is growth-oriented, and is excited by the prospect of serving as the financial compass when the company faces important strategic decisions. If you are a finance executive with payments & fintech industry experience, and you have helped startups progress from series A or B to C, D, E, and beyond to successful exits, this could be a great opportunity for you to earn equity, have a seat at the table, roll up your sleeves, and make it happen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a reporting infrastructure that enables the company to utilize the data at its disposal to make smart decisions across all key facets of the business (e.g. funnel conversion, pricing and margins, marketing expense payback, etc.)
- Assess the economics underlying relationships with clients for growth & optimization opportunities
- Establish a data-driven business case for all new initiatives. Help prioritize business development efforts and execute them with confidence
- Oversee a GAAP-compliant, accrual-based accounting function that delivers timely and accurate recording of all business transactions
- Manage the preparation of monthly financial statements and other reporting requirements
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, expenses, receivables, and payables; oversee the cash management function
- Manage the company’s banking relationships and assist management and the Equity Investment company in key balance sheet decisions
- Implement and oversee internal audit policies and procedures, and manage external audits
- Represent the company in Board meetings as its key finance executive as a true partner to the CEO and Board of Directors by providing a financial lens into all aspects of the company’s operations
Ideal Background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of financial management experience; preference for finance experience in the digital marketing industry
- Strong analytical skills, including deep proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent project management and organizational skills and a “hands-on” approach
- A growth mindset and a hunger to dive in, challenge assumptions, and make a difference
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
