As Managing Director, Payments Strategy, you will create and own all aspects of the Payments Strategy Practice - from prospecting and contracting through managing the delivery of the work with/for Fintech and Financial Institution clients.  You will create the strategy, define the target clients, and help articulate the unique advantages this firm has over other options available in the industry as you grow and develop relationships with senior level decisionmakers within the top companies in the industry.  If you are ready to leverage your extensive experience within cards and payments to help clients solve complex business problems this is your chance to provide strategic oversight of client engagements to project teams focused on corporate strategy, market assessments / research, product development / new product launches, program optimization, product / performance benchmarking, operational evaluations, partnership assessments, and financial evaluations. Key Responsibilities: 
  • Develop business and manage relationships within key sectors including multinational banks, super-regional banks, regional banks, credit unions, technology companies, payment networks, and large corporate organizations
  • Provide strategic oversight of client engagements to project teams focused on corporate strategy, market assessments / research, product development / new product launches, program optimization, product / performance benchmarking, operational evaluations, partnership assessments, and financial evaluations
  • Act as primary liaison on engagements to client executive leadership
  • Build brand awareness through creation of thought leadership pieces, public speaking opportunities, and other initiatives
  • Hire team of analysts and consultants to support client engagements
  • Train and develop staff
Ideal Background:
  • Broad expertise in consumer payments services including credit cards, debit cards, retail / private label solutions, ATM, ACH, and faster payment solutions
  • Experienced, connected, and educated in the complexities of the payments industry with a significant existing network of potential clients
  • Executive presence and ability to interact with and influence the most senior people within client organizations and across the industry
  • Excellent ability to concisely articulate problems and solutions in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Experience delivering speeches / facilitating speaking opportunities at major industry events
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills
  • A leader with proven track record of successful sales management, coaching, contract negotiation and excellent closing skills in consulting sales
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
  • At least ten years’ experience in consumer payments in a banking or consulting role
  • Able to travel up to 20 – 30% travel – sometimes more
