As Director of Credit Risk Modeling & Analytics, you will own the development, implementation, and oversight of the proprietary decisioning models for all consumer credit and tax refund loan products offered by this agile sponsor bank together with their fintech partners. Leverage your expertise to achieve loss and loan approval goals you set with senior management. You will manage and build a team to monitor a portfolio of over $500MM as you evaluate approval rates and funding patterns and make adjustments as appropriate. Key Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and continue to enhance the credit policies and strategies for all credit & tax refund loan related products 
  • Implement new decision engines which provide flexibility for all credit & tax refund loan related products 
  • Responsible for leading a team of technical professionals engaged in research, and predictive modeling efforts for payments division programs 
  • Design analytical files and coded programs for payments division risk reporting, payment analysis and other statistical analytics as requested by senior management or at the applicant’s determination 
  • Design and implement data driven strategies and analytic solutions to enable sustainable growth while maintaining an acceptable loss and approval ratio 
  • Design and incorporate profitability modeling into credit & tax refund products and loan decision strategies and scorecards 
  • Create forecasting models for delinquency, collections, and reserves to meet financial, credit and pricing requirements 
  • Lead and develop team by being a mentor to direct reports, enhancing potential skills and addressing development opportunities 
  • Provide timely and behaviorally specific feedback, align and mobilize the organization with a set of common goals while maintaining an encouraging demeanor at moments of stress in a way that will positively influence others' attitudes 
  • Oversee the whole process of model development, validation, verification, and deployment including hands on every aspect in model development life cycle 
  • Leadership in modeling, SAS coding, and optimization programming 
  • Strong ability to apply analytic expertise into business 
  • Serve as the trusted analytic and strategy advisor to provide analytic thought leadership and detailed analytic plans for the team to execute on key models 
  • Interact, communicate effectively, and maintain strong working relationship on an ongoing basis with business partners 
  • Clearly communicate complex analyses to both internal and external partners including Regulators 
  • Manage losses and approval rates within operating plan 
  • Work cross functionally with Finance, Marketing, Technology, Operations and Sales to assess strategic business opportunities within the credit line of business 
  • Collaborate with key business partners in the development, design and implementation of various business and product strategies 
  • Know compliance responsibilities and particular requirements affecting your area of responsibility, incorporate these requirements into your business processes and procedures, perform ongoing monitoring and periodic self-assessments including reporting and corrective action as needed, and assure appropriate training to associates regarding these responsibilities and procedures 
  • Model and foster behaviors that support the Bank’s values and corporate culture creating an atmosphere of trust, cooperation, accountability, and dedication to the organization 
  • Travel between Bank facilities
Ideal Background:  
  • MS required, Ph.D. is preferred in a quantitative major (i.e., Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Science, Management Information Systems, and Computer Science) 
  • Research ability and experience in statistical analysis and data mining required so the individual can decide which appropriate approaches and techniques are used to meet the business needs 
  • 5 years previous management experience in leading a team of technical professionals engaged in research, data mining and predictive modeling efforts required 
  • Experience in SAS or similar analytical software 
  • Training in regression analysis 
  • Previous experience in lending or design of other such score cards is preferred 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and internet applications 
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills both verbal and written 
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a non-technical manner
