Utilize your finance, accounting, and leadership experience to take your career to the next level as the Controller for a well-established, award-winning, and steadily growing organization. In this role, you will be responsible for overall accounting and financial reporting for the company. As a direct report to the CFO, you will work closely with the CFO and other members of the finance team to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures, ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, and prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). If you have 10+ years of experience in financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, this could be a great fit for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee the entire accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting principles, legal regulations, and company policies. Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analyses. Communicate financial performance to the executive team and board of directors.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Coordinate with external tax advisors and prepare necessary tax filings.
  • Oversee the company’s internal and external audit functions.
  • Participate in M&A activities, including financial due diligence and integration planning.
  • Participate in the company’s international operations, including foreign currency accounting and transfer pricing.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Relationship Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and project managers, to provide financial guidance and support. Interface with external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions as needed.
  • Technology & Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for automation and streamlining of accounting processes. Evaluate and implement accounting software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ad hoc Projects: Lead or contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned by the executive team.
  • Other duties that are reasonable within the area of expertise.

Ideal Background:

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • CPA certification
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant managerial leadership
  • Experience with M&A functions.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Ability to travel on occasion, though not regularly.
